Henry VII, who took the throne in 1485 after defeating Richard III at Bosworth, ordered all copies of a parliamentary document called Titulus Regius destroyed and made possession of it a felony. This document had been the legal basis for declaring the princes illegitimate and removing them from succession. Why would a king who benefited from the princes' deaths want this document erased rather than preserved as proof of their illegitimacy?
